Posting YOUTUBE videos of friends without permission?

Issue:  Students are at school, parties, and sporting events are taking videos of everyone and everything?
Do you feel they are allowed to post these if you and your children did not give permission?  Is it appropriate?  These cell phones with video capability are at everyone's fingertips and the streaming is going wild.

As a member of a "Leadership" team, we experienced this issue last year.  Someone posted a YOUTUBE with a group of individuals.  Parents were upset because their children with on YOUTUBE without their knowing.  What are your thoughts?

While searching the Internet, this was a very discussed topic.  What are the individual's rights?
Some individuals feel they took the video-they own it!  I would agree with this to a point that this is because they are manufacturing it.  On the flip side, you don't have all permission so I can see where some would be upset.

For example, if there was highschool basketball game and I recorded it. Would I be allowed to put it on youtube even though I don't have permission from the school, the players or the audiance?

Do I have to have their permission?

This is a question that many students encounter at their schools.  I'm providing a legal question/answer site to assist.
